medical update on Ben

Medical update on Ben...
Three months ago I took Ben to the eye doctor for the first time because we have noticed his eye turning in at times. Due to some genetics this is something we watch carefully for and are very pro-active. We have our children seen at a year old usually but because we were noticing things with Ben we decided not to wait until a year.
You can take a look at this post to see what happened three months ago.
Yesterday I took him for the follow-up appointment fully expecting to head down stairs after and pick out some adorable little glasses for him. So when the doctor said that she saw some improvement and no glasses yet I was just thrilled! She was surprised and so was I! She did however tell me not to get too excited because there is still a good chance he will have problems. I guess between the ages of two and three his eyes will be fine or not good at all. We will go back in three months for another check.
Yeah, for once we had a positive appointment with this guy!!!
Last week I took him for his appointment with the pulmonologist. This too was a follow up visit from a few weeks ago. Ben was healthy enough to have some allergy testing so that was good. Unfortunately the allergy testing did not reveal anything, bummer.
The doctor has no doubt that Ben has allergies and will eventually have pretty severe allergies so I was hoping to get some definitive answers as to what he is allergic to. She had told me when we originally talked about the testing that it is often not very accurate at this age. Most likely we will not find out the exact things that cause him such problems for another couple of years.
So, what do we do now? Rip up the carpets, get rid of JJ (the guinea pig), buy special bedding, or other things that "MAY" help? These things would be such a no-brainer if we knew just what the allergies are.
She did put Ben on Singulair daily to help with the asthma and allergies so I hope that helps.
So, at the moment he is on: Flo-vent for asthma, singulair for asthma and allergies, and previcid for reflux. Those are his "permanent meds". He is also getting stuff for thrush as well as drops in his ears.
Speaking of ears, he hasn't had any discharge for over a week now!!! His ears don't seem to be causing him any pain either!!! Yay!!! We go at the end of the week for the specialist to take another look.
So, there you have it, another medical update on Ben!
