Ben went yesterday to the doctor, actually a nurse visit for a weight check and a shot...
The weight check didn't go as well as we would have liked as he has only gained 2 ounces in the last month which puts him up to 22lbs 10 ounces. The doctor wasn't in so I am not sure what she is going to say about it. Honestly though, I want to give him some more time. He has recently started to eat and drink milk better so I want to give his body more time to start adding on the weight. Also, he seems so much more healthy lately. His activity level is not the level of someone that is having problems, at least in my opinion. The little guy NEVER stops moving! Like I used to say when the doctor was worried about Connor's growing, "you have to take in more calories then you burn off to gain weight."
He had his MMR shot as well. Shots make me nervous, very nervous. I do have my children get them and I do believe in them but they scare me! Especially with the knowledge that Ben has some pretty bad allergies that we don't know what they are yet. So, I will admit, that when I looked at the shot area a few minutes later and there was two huge hives I felt my heart panic a little. Luckily I was still at the doctor's office so I went and got the nurse. She happened to be talking to one of the other docs in the practice so he took a look. We put ice on the leg right away and waited a little while. The doctor checked in on Ben two more times and the nurse was in and out checking. Thank goodness he didn't have a full body reaction, it was a localized one. The doctor said he probably has an allergy to something in the shot. Yikes, that scares me for future shots! Man, shots scare the crap out of me!!! I am pretty sure I dislike them more then the kids do....
