Jumbled thoughts...

I am so glad it's Friday. We were supposed to have a Christmas party tomorrow afternoon with my sisters, brother, their spouses, my nieces, and nephews but we had to post-pone since Katelyn is sick. She went to school this morning absolutely fine but came down with a stomach bug mid-morning and has been pretty miserable. Lately she has been so nervous that she would throw up in school and that nightmare came true when she vomited on the floor in the hallway. Thankfully it was outside of her last year class so her old teacher, who is actually very young as opposed to old, helped her to the nurses office.
Ben was pretty sick and miserable yesterday with a fever. He never did throw up but I have to think it was just a different form of what Katelyn has today. I hope. And I hope no one else comes down with this. But, if we do I hope it is all gone by Christmas!
Speaking of yesterday... My wonderful niece, Julia, had a long awaited appointment to see a pediatric cardiologist. In the world of specialist doctors it wasn't long awaited at all but for me and the rest of the family 8 days was very long. Last week at a pre-surgical visit to the pediatrician there were some big red flags on her EKG, actually they repeated it three times and it wasn't good all three times. So scary. So yesterday she had another EKG, an echo and met with the cardio doc. I went to be support and an extra ear as my brother-in-law couldn't go.
Thankfully the appointment went smoothly and quickly, well an hour and a half, but there was very little sitting and waiting in that time. Julia does have something wrong with her heart but it is something that will be monitored yearly and most likely she will never have complications due to it. Boy, my prayers were answered there!
And, guess what I did... I brought a goody bag filled with paper games, jewelry making stuff, fuzzodles, and playdough. Haha, yep, that's what I brought! We actually never had much time to use any of the stuff but the playdough came in very handy. I never really realized how calming playdough could be. The smell and feeling of that old school dough is so calming and has such relaxing power! I will be bringing that from now on and I recommend it to you. The doctor and nurses got a kick out of it! And, when the appointment was done I think I took the first full breath all day, possibly in a week.
Ben has been in a cast for just over a week and is really getting used to it, finally. He gets around good. He was sick for a couple of days which made him miserable but seems back to normal today. I am going to be happy when he loses the cast though.
This upcoming week I have a mission. I am going to try a new crock pot recipe every day. It could be quite disastrous or work out wonderfully. We will just have to try it and see.
Oh, and there is a new bowling alley that opened in our town so we may take the kids there soon. It has been in the works for probably two years so the kids are happy it's finally done.
Well, there you go. My jumbled thoughts. If you made it to the end I applause you for your attention span...
