Ben meets a cardiologist

Since Ben was a tiny baby his lips have turned blue on occasion. It used to happen when he was nursing, really upset, or having an asthma flare-up. I mentioned it to his primary doctor a few times and his pulmonologist but neither really seemed concerned about it so I didn't worry.

Until recently when it began happening a bit more. It is not consistent at all but would happen sometimes when he was drinking. Then I noticed it when he was climbing the bleachers at the gym, and running around at the club we go to. Again, it wasn't every time but it was time to check into it.

We did some blood work since anemia can be a cause and we know Ben is anemic. That wasn't it. He is anemic but it's not low enough to cause his lips to be turning blue.
I have done some looking online the past couple of weeks, which turned out to be a good thing this time, and found quite a few places that moms talked about the exact same thing and it turned out to be nothing.
I was able to keep things in positive prospective, for the most part, until the day before Ben's appointment when I started worrying quite a bit more.
So, the other day we went and Ben met Dr. J, the cardiologist. He had an EKG and an Echo and did AMAZING during both tests! I was so proud, he laid so still and therefore we were able to get nice accurate results.
I am happy to say, his heart is PERFECT! It does not appear at this time to be anything heart related.

So, for now we don't know what is causing the blue lips, which I kinda captured a bit in this picture, but we do know it's not heart related or due to anemia....
And that I am happy about! I am also happy that even though Ben met a new cardiologist who is fabulous, we don't need to add Dr. J to our specialist list!
